Dr. Malek Santo Deng is a seasoned development leader with 24 years of experience advancing national systems, public–private partnerships, and large-scale transformation initiatives in South Sudan. He holds an MBBS from the University of Arizona; Master’s degrees in Family Medicine and Public Health from Grand Canyon University; and an MBA and BHAS from the University of Phoenix. As CEO and Founder of The Help Desk South Sudan, he drives strategic investment, institutional strengthening, and multi-sector development.
Renowned as a master facilitator and strategic negotiator, Dr. Deng has mobilized international investors and donors while leading high-impact projects across oil and gas, mining, industrial zones, commercial infrastructure, transportation, healthcare, diagnostics, agriculture, and education. His ability to bridge government, private sector, and development partners has made him a key architect of sustainable growth and institutional transformation.
His public service includes senior leadership roles such as Director General for International Health and Coordination at the Ministry of Health; Project Manager for the Health Pooled Fund; Regional Consultant for Sub-Saharan Africa on Malaria and Community Health; and Project Coordinator for the Health Sector Transformation Project. Dr. Deng continues to champion national development, resilient institutions, and impactful partnerships that advance South Sudan’s long-term prosperity.
